Obituary: Dwight Christianson

He was born December 1, 1944, in Janesville, Wisconsin the son of the late Wilmer and Edna (Borchardt) Christianson.Dwight was in the Army, active in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He served until 1969, being honorably discharged receiving a Purple Heart after being wounded. During his active duty, Dwight married Susan Hetts on October 11, 1968 at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church.Dwight worked with Hoffman Lumber Company, Prescott Furniture and later becoming owner of D & S Decorating in Cambridge, Wisconsin.Dwight is survived by his wife Sue of 49 years; his children Becky (Eric) Krueger, Cambridge; Chris (Becky) Christianson, Belgium, Wisconsin; a granddaughter Serena Krueger; and a sister, Karen Hayes, Cambridge.Dwight was a very well liked member of the community, he served several terms as an elected trustee of the Cambridge Village Board. He always had a smile, hug or most of all, he will be remembered for his goofy jokes. He was a very helpful man, always there when he was needed. He had a strong, deep faith which he shared proudly with others.A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Willerup United Methodist Church, Cambridge, WI and again on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church until the hour of service.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Willerup United Methodist Church, Cambridge.Memorials may be made to Willerup Methodist Church or the Veteran’s Organization of your choice.Nitardy Funeral Home is assisting the family, visit the online obituary at www.nitardyfuneralhome.com...
